STUDENT SATISFACTION SURVEY (2019-20)

GIPE conducts mainly Post Graduate programmes in different fields of Economics and also has a Doctorate programme. The Institute through its faculty and Academic Council ensures that continuous revisions are made in course curriculum so that the student is well trained in contemporary issues and has a clear understanding of the subject. Hence, the class room teaching is combined by discussions and debates and quantitative techniques on real world data are applied. Further field trips are also conducted so that students get exposure as well as practical training. Thus all round efforts are made to ensure that there is student satisfaction. From the academic year 2019-20, the Institute introduced an Undergraduate programme-B.Sc Economics. The notable feature of the programme is that it is not a stereotype Undergraduate programme but attempts to promote the overall personality development of the student through its versatile courses.

At the end of each semester, the students give feedback on the course structure as well as the performance of the teacher in their learning outcome. The feedback that is obtained by students relates to depth of the course, applicability to real life situations, cognitive skills acquired and relevance of reading material. The students also provide feedback on communication skills of teachers, the interest generated by the teacher in the class room and accessibility of the teacher whenever required by the student. The feedback from students revealed that largely the students are satisfied with the courses. Further, the newly introduced B.Sc programme was well received and students showed immense satisfaction. Throughout the year 2019-20, there were several inquiries about the undergraduate programme, and suggestions were made from aspiring students and their parents to increase the number of seats so that more students could get the opportunity to take advantage of quality education.

However, there have been instances when students made suggestions for including certain topics in the courses or revealed that they were not fully satisfied with certain teachers. The Director then attempts to take corrective measures so as to improve student satisfaction. New and young faculty also take considerable efforts to ensure that they are able to do justice to the students and continuously strive towards improvement of their teaching skills.
