Agro Economic Research Centre (AERC)

Established by the Union Ministry of Food and Agriculture at the Institute in 1954, the AERC has contributed to major research studies on the Agricultural Economy of India. The AERC has completed over 200 studies for central and state governments, and government institutions like the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development over the last seven decades. These research-based projects encompassed the areas of villages and farm business surveys, irrigation and watershed management, rural electrification, rural credit, agricultural tenancy, cooperation, droughts and famines, crop insurance, agricultural marketing and exports, and so on. The pioneering research at the Centre has contributed significantly to research and policy in India’s agriculture.
