Gokhale Institute is hosting a research presentation titled “𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐬,” by 𝐃𝐫 𝐕𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐤 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐚 from University of Lancaster Management School. The research explores the effects of bank shocks in an economy with established bank-firm lending relationships on Thursday, 5 September 2024.

The research also aims to understand how a negative bank shock, such as a shock to loan repayments, increases credit spreads, reduces bank credit, and causes a downturn in macroeconomic activity.
