About

Dr. Arjun is an Assistant Professor at the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur, and has previously earned his M.A. in Economics from the University of Hyderabad and a B.A. (Hons.) in Economics from the University of Delhi. Before joining GIPE, he served as Assistant Professor (Senior Scale) at the School of Business, UPES Dehradun, and was formerly part of the faculty at Ramdeobaba University (formerly RCOEM), Nagpur.

Dr. Arjun specializes in Macroeconomics, Public Economics, Econometrics, Development Economics, and International Trade. His research interests include public policy, energy economics, climate change, and applied econometrics. He has published 11 research papers in peer-reviewed journals indexed in Scopus, SSCI, and ABDC, including Environmental Science and Pollution Research, Sage Open, Asian Pacific Economic Literature, Natural Resource Forum, and Prague Economic Papers. His research addresses key policy questions related to fiscal sustainability, environmental degradation, economic openness, and governance in emerging economies.

He has presented his research at 7 national and international conferences, including events organized by the Indian Economic Association, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bodh Gaya, and IBS Hyderabad. He has also attended 6 workshops and training programs, focusing on statistical and econometric methods, and data analytics using R, SPSS, and Python. Dr. Arjun has delivered lectures and hands-on training sessions in academic settings, particularly on quantitative methods in the social sciences.

As an active member of the academic community, he serves as a reviewer for journals such as Environmental Science and Pollution Research, Economic Change and Restructuring, and Energy & Environment. Throughout his academic career, he has taken on various institutional responsibilities including placement committee membership and student leadership roles.

Fluent in English and Hindi, Dr. Arjun brings a policy-driven, data-intensive approach to teaching and research, with a commitment to developing critical and empirical skills in his students.
