Faculty

After studying Statistics, Anjali immersed herself in Population Studies to become a demographer–statistician. She is the program coordinator for the M.Sc. Population Studies and Health Economics program at Gokhale. She teaches Population Studies and Research Methodology mainly to post-graduate and doctoral students.

She regularly publishes her work in academic journals. Her major research interests are sex ratio, son preference in India, Indian demography, female workforce participation, maternal and child health, mortality, morbidity and nutrition in India, and health systems research. She likes both quantitative and qualitative research.

She has worked as a Senior Consultant at State Health Systems Resource Centre, Government of Maharashtra, and as a faculty member in the Interdisciplinary School of Health Sciences, University of Pune.

Currently, she is working on undernutrition and seasonal migration of tribal populations for livelihoods, and the area of nutrition transition in tribal peoples. She loves reading books, trekking, and listening to music.
