145th Birth Anniversary of Sant Gulabrao Maharaj Jayanti Celebration
The National Service Scheme (NSS) Department of the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE), Pune, celebrated the 145th Birth Anniversary of Sant Pradnyachakshu Gulabrao Maharaj on 6 July 2026 in accordance with the directives of the Government of Maharashtra. The programme began with the ceremonial garlanding of the portrait of Sant Gulabrao Maharaj by Prof. Kailas C. Thaware and Prof. Anurag Asawa, followed by floral tributes from faculty members, non-teaching staff, students, and NSS volunteers.
On the occasion, Dr. Vishal Gaikwad delivered an insightful lecture on the life and teachings of Sant Gulabrao Maharaj, highlighting his remarkable contributions to Indian philosophy, spirituality, and literature. Despite losing his eyesight in infancy, the saint authored over 130 books and nearly 25,000 verses, leaving a lasting legacy through his philosophy of Madhuradvaita. A documentary on his life and literary contributions was also screened for the participants.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sunil Bhosale and Dr. Prema Borkar, Coordinators of the NSS, GIPE. They encouraged students to draw inspiration from the saint’s ideals of knowledge, perseverance, humility, compassion, and selfless service. The celebration reaffirmed GIPE’s commitment to promoting India’s rich cultural heritage and nurturing socially responsible citizens through the activities of the National Service Scheme.
